My favorite 90s throwback series just got its own 24/7 free Pluto TV channel

In an exciting development, the fan-favorite television series X-Files is set to land on the free online streaming service Pluto TV starting January 1, 2026. As reported by Cord Cutters News, all eleven seasons of the original show, as well as the 2016-era revival series, will be streamable on-demand starting in the New Year. Additionally, a dedicated linear X-Files channel will be made available within Pluto TV’s Sci-Fi network category for fans of the more traditional viewing format.

X-Files follows fictional FBI Agents Fox Mulder, Dana Scully, John Doggett, and Minica Reyes as they investigate various paranormal happenings. Produced by Ten Thirteen Productions and 20th Century Fox, the show first aired on the Fox network, proving an immediate hit within the mystery-thriller and supernatural drama scenes.

The original nine seasons of X-Files ran from 1993 through 2002, with an additional two seasons releasing in 2016 and 2018, respectively. In total, 218 episodes of the show were produced, providing plenty of content for fans of the science fiction genre to sink their teeth into. Two full-length feature films set in the X-Files universe were also released back in the day, though there’s no word on whether these two releases will eventually make their way onto Pluto TV as well.
